A great 2nd DPAN symposium

On Jan 30th we had the 2nd DPAN symposium, resulting in a successful event with excellent talks, lots of posters and great science. Our keynote speaker Prof Sanne Abeln from Utrecht University gave an exciting lecture about the use of AI methods in protein aggregation research. We had a series of interesting talks from both invited and selected speakers, covering a broad range of topics spanning multiple different protein aggregation diseases. Another important feature of the event was an impressive presentation given by two people who are personally being affected by a protein aggregation disease. Ingrid de Groot and Ad Bloks of the Dutch Myositis patient organization talked about their perspective as patients, and how they see the roles of both scientists and patients in these research endeavors. At the conclusion of the day, three poster presenters were honored with poster prizes: Vasista Adupa (University of Groningen), Brent Visser (Radboud University), and Amalia Kontochristou (VU Amsterdam). We closed the symposium with a buffet and drinks that allowed for more discussion, networking and the planning of new collaborations.

This exciting event was made possible by our sponsors, many of whom were also in attendance at the event. We thank them for their support and were glad of the chance to interact with them on site!  Thanks to: NWOalzheimer NederlandibidiJascoparkinsonNLphotothermal spectroscopy corpproteintechSTinstrumentsThermo Fisher ScientificVereniging van Huntington.

We are already looking forward to the 3rd DPAN symposium. More updates on that event will follow.
